Re: Once again …. Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more
It’s not about skills, science, even cost, it’s about ‘industry’ standards and acceptance. You can be corporation/bank with endless resources and in-house-built-from-scratch comm systems but you still have to use skype/slack/webex because of the others. Same goes for criminals (cartels, etc.), governments and other organizations …. 41R
Methinks, 41R, that reveals everything revolves around and is fully dependent upon and also catastrophically vulnerable to skills in users that share greater intelligence via ubiquitous means either both secret and exclusive in a private sector or readily widely available and popular with the masses/public sector.
And skills in users in that regard is really just a euphemism for prime use of considerably more advanced greater intelligence proving itself to be, to that and those in its sights for intervention, impregnable and problematical. Such though is best realised as being a quite normal default progression in the field.

The FUD which just keeps on giving …..
Methinks the West is terrified that the East/the System is terrified that internetworking hackers and/or crack coders are doing what the Western System cannot do and has no effective viable attacking defence against.
And that which cannot be done but which is considered vital and worthy of all manner of outrageous shenanigans, is Command and Control of Daily 0Day Narratives, for there are any number of them to constantly feed with

And shared as a exclamatory question because as a statement it would be somewhat presumptuous and too easily realised as a sad rad mad bad reflection on the current state of human intelligence …….. leaving it in greater danger of further exploitation?

Most of what is in the public realm at present is thanks to journalists and academics making Freedom of Information requests or rifling through the bins of public procurement data, rather than public bodies taking the proactive step of releasing information about how they use AI. …… Laurie Clarke 12 Feb 2020 at 13:25
One could try the converse obverse reverse with journalists and academics making Freedom of Information requests or rifling through the bins of public procurement data releasing information about how AI is using them and public bodies.
might very well be is the much more fruitful endeavour with bounties one never before dreamed possible, and all immediately deliverable.
Do you think that would be Present Systems Operations Problematical? And have them vulnerable and primed to be prone to Overloading Lode Trashing and Smashing and Crashing?
And asking here for Friends who are also almightily curious.

Re: the government doesn’t publish any centralised audit on the extent of AI use
Perhaps they should develop an AI system that will decide what government information to publish . After all, if they’re just going to carry on using AI systems to judge people on things such as likelihood of being a criminal, or reoffender or benefit cheat, not caring about all the negative consequences for the people that are wrongly accused, then if the government is harmed because the AI decides to release something they want to keep covered up it’s just the same tough luck. ….. SVV
I second that proposal, SVV. Let’s give AI a trial as judge and jury deciding on future human interreaction with full provision of practical instruction to render maximum benefit from the quantum leap switch to a most able AI System of Universal Operation.
I wonder what a Boris J and a Dominic C would make with Effective Leverage in that Facilitative Utility?
And there’s no point in them denying expertise and/or competence in the application, for whenever not able to be provided custom made in-house, everything needed is supplied freely from A.N.Others’ Operating Systems Overflowing Stores.
